[E34] About Auto Dimming Mirror Install

요즘은 바쁘다 보니 차에 손댈 시간도 없다.

가끔가다 생각나는 정보를 찾아보는 정도이지만, 나름대로 시간이 많이 투자 하지는 못하는 지경.

어쨌든 오늘은 그동안 사놨던 오토디밍 룸미러를 연결해 보기 위해 찾아보았다.

내가 산 미러들은 모두 5x2핀짜리 커넥터이지만, 내차에서 나오는 커넥터는 3x2핀 커넥터이다.

참고로 찾아본 일본 사이트에서도 차체에 사용하지 않더라도 5x2핀짜리 커넥터가 달여 있었다.

어째서 내차만 다른 핀의 커넥터가 달려있을까....

대략 해석이 될만한 답변이 있어서 참조한다.

They used a few different mirrors. The harness connector is tucked behind the headliner under the left visor (on LHD cars, could be on the right on RHD cars), and if your car doesn't have the IR keyless/alarm system from the factory, it is easy to confuse the harness connector tied up back there for the mirror's connector. If there's any doubt, get a meter and test the leads against ground -- no alarm system in the car means the connector will be dead.

Early cars had auto dipping mirrors -- the harness has 3 wires. Ground, constant power, and headlights on. If you have one of these, wire the mirror up to headlights on/ground, else the mirror will constantly be on and draw current while the car is off.

Later cars ('91-'92) have the adjustable contrast mirror. I don't remember what the harness connector looks like, but it should be standard.

Even later cars ('93-'94, all E32 in the US) use a Gentex 117, which has no outward controls. This mirror uses a standard ~ 6 pin black connector, but again only 3 pins are used.

The last mirror that I know about is the one with the IR sensor built in, which also has an on/off knob I think.

I think you're probably looking at a gentex 117 -- there should be some text to that effect on the windscreen side of the mirror.

초기의 차들은 오토디핑미러 - 커넥터는 3선으로, GND, 파워, 헤드라이트 온 신호로 구성되어 있다. 만일 당신의 차가 이런 종류라면, 미러를 헤드라이트온/GND로 연결해라, 그렇지 않으면, 미러는 항상 켜져 있을 것이며, 차가 시동이 꺼져 있을 때에서 전류가 계속 흐르고 있을 것이다.

후기의 차들('91-'92)은 조절 가능한 명도 조절 미러로 되어 있다. 나는 커넥터 하네스가 어떻게 생겼는 지 기억나지 않는다. 다만, 일반적으로 생겼을 것이다.

마지막 후기의 차들('93-'94, US의 모든 E32)은 외부 제어가 없는Gentex 117을 사용한다. 이 미러는 표준 6핀 검은색 커넥터를 사용하지만, 역시 3핀만 사용된다.
